Thin Ice Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 1, 2026

Nobody owns Antarctica, but we believe you should own your data.

Thin Ice.earth is a small, evolving project. We believe in common sense and common decency, and that includes how we handle information you choose to share with us.

What we collect

Not much.

If you choose to share it, we may collect:

  • Your email address

  • Basic, anonymous information about how people use the site (pages visited, general traffic patterns)

No deep dives. No shadow profiles. No funny business.

Why we collect it

If you give us your email, we’ll use it to share new episodes and occasional updates. Nothing more.

We’re not on a content treadmill — if we have nothing worth saying, you won’t hear from us.

We also look at broad, anonymous site activity to understand what people find useful and make this better over time.

What we don’t do

We don’t sell your data. Period.

We don’t track you across the internet.
We don’t build profiles or try to outsmart you with algorithms.

Honestly, we’re not interested in doing any of that.

Who helps keep this running

We’re a small operation. Today, we rely on a few trusted tools:

  • Squarespace (hosting the site)

  • Buzzsprout (playing the podcast)

  • Google Analytics (optional, for anonymous usage insights)

They may process limited data only to provide their services and keep this site running.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies to:

  • Keep the site functioning

  • Understand broad, anonymous usage patterns

No ad tracking. No surveillance vibes.

You can adjust or disable cookies in your browser. We won’t be offended. Some features may not work as intended, but that’s your call—and we respect it.

Your choices

You’re in charge here.

  • You can share your email—or not

  • You can unsubscribe at any time

  • You can adjust cookie settings however you like

How your information is handled

We use established, reputable platforms to store and manage any information you provide.

We take reasonable steps to protect it. But nothing online is perfectly secure, and we won’t pretend otherwise.

Children’s privacy

This site isn’t intended for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

As Thin Ice evolves, this policy may, too.

When that happens, we’ll update it here—and we’ll keep it as clear and honest as we can.

Until then: Keep Earth wild. Be Kind. And chill out.
